Биография Райана, написанная им самим

I hate “Bio’s”. I hate writing them. I don’t really like reading them. Frankly, I think the Bio is simply the stuff you think you wanna know before you start asking the good questions. I still haven’t figured out why they always sound like someone else wrote them, “Ryan was born on a cloudy day while the birds chirped endlessly…” Really?
I am writing this bio. Not my representation – they probably couldn’t. Not my Publicist – he/she doesn’t exist currently. Just me. I might edit it once or twice. Hell I might even spell check it… But trust me, I’m writing it. My way.

I was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. That’s in Canada… on the East Coast… by Maine. My parents had already been living with my brother for about 5 years before I came along and screwed up the trio. Our house would be my home until I left for Los Angeles some 22 years later.

During those 22 years, I did all the standard schooling you would expect, made some amazing friends that I still see and talk to every chance I get, and learned a little along the way. Eventually I made it to Acadia University and studied the Art of Literature and the incredibly imperfect Science of Psychology – Stories and Party Tricks – perfect! It was graduation time from this incredibly prestigious school that made me realize I wanted nothing to do with it, in a sense.

While visiting home before convocation ceremonies (parties) were to begin, I ended up spending a day as an extra (I played a cop) on the set of Two If By Sea, starring Sandra Bullock and Denis Leary. To put it lightly, this one day changed the rest of my life. I stood in awe and wonderment of what the hell was going on around me, and although I had no clue what anyone was doing or saying for the most part, I was entranced. I knew that these people were doing something amazing and could do it every day of their lives if they so desired.

I wanted in.

After making a slew of phone calls and banging down enough doors, I finally found my first real agent at The Cassidy Group in Halifax, and to make that story short, it was only a matter of time before I was headed off to Toronto as a model for Armstrong Model Management.

Working in Toronto for almost a year in that industry was a great experience. I was treated fairly and I worked a ton. Yet, it was not what I wanted and I pursued acting even harder. Eventually, I landed my very first real “role” on the then current version of La Femme Nikita. Not only was I having wardrobe sessions, and free hair cuts, but I was fortunate enough to land an episode that was being directed by Jon Cassar.
By the time that episode aired, I had already moved to Los Angeles.

I don’t want to minimize, or skip over anything, but frankly at this point, most of my “bio” type material is searchable, archived, and documented to some degree. I could talk about places I’ve lived, or people I’ve partied with, but I won’t. It doesn’t matter. If you want to know something really odd… just ask. I’ll answer if I think it’s appropriate.

In terms of my “career”, I’ve worked with some great people. I’ve been very lucky to have worked with people you’ve heard of, people you will never hear of, and people you may very soon hear of. Some of the people I’ve worked with are still friends of mine while others remain only a face on my ever growing reel. That’s the way things work. I’ve had “good” jobs, and “bad” jobs, but never once have I worked on a show or film that I haven’t learned something. I will admit that I probably learn a lot of things on every job, but the point is that I have learned and am always reminded, that every moment and experience counts.

Whether you’re two weeks behind after only 4 days due to “in-climate weather” on a Mini-Series, or surrounded by great crew, great cast, and a role built specifically for you, there is always something to take note of. Not just in your immediate area, but probably from within as well… Trust me, keep looking.

I’m happy with this little piece of reading instead of a standard bio, or the type of bio that most people expect when they hear the word. It allows for more of an introduction to me, to my website, and to a lot of what you can expect to find within these technological walls. 7.) What is something embarrassing or unexpected that happened to you on set?
RYAN: Oh man… Well.. One story that pops into mind was from the set of Queer as Folk. We were shooting a fairly pivotal scene in the apartment of Brian (Gale Harold) where the entire point of my being in his life was being realized. As I was laying on the bed, after a long pause, I’m supposed to deliver the straw that breaks the camels back so to speak.. and as I turn to him to begin speaking… My stomach/throat only emits this long low guttural moan of sheer hunger. I was mic’d of course and Gale heard it from across the room, so you can imagine how loud it was to the team sitting in video village watching the footage. My eyes went wide, and then there was a long silence.. Nobody yelled “Cut!”, but the director finally broke the silence with, “Ryan..? You alright?” We reset and shot it again.

22.) In studying your filmography, I watched a few YouTube video clips of your role as Brandon on “Queer as Folk”. You seemed to adapt to the role easy, personal experience or damn good acting?
RYAN: Well… I think that is the best way I’ve heard that question asked since doing QAF. ; ) I actually did have some difficulty in the beginning with certain nuances that came with the role. Luckily one of the amazing producers (Sheila Hockin) was nearby to help out when necessary. Luckily I was able to feel out the little differences that came with that character. I am straight but am not turned off by gay roles at all, and with many very good friends who are bi or gay, would gladly play another role if it were appropriate. I’m happy that more and more “out” actors are working and having very successful careers.
Damn good acting! .

вот с тех пор как когда-то обсуждали тогда у меня, и разобрались, что на актерах микрофоны нацеплены, но как тогда я нифига не понимала, где как они на них во время обнаженных сцен, так и сейчас не понимаю)
