небольшое описание.
В то время браки между однополыми парами не были разрешены и ЛГБТ добивалось разрешения для однополых пар ухаживать за своим недееспособным партнером. Тут приводится история женщины, которой семья ее любимой запретила посещать больную и ее даже не пустили на похороны.
И очень интересно, что позже по этой же теме вышел фильм "Ханна свободна" в котором снялась Шэрон Глесс.

PHOENIX, NY WOMAN'S STRUGGLE TO CARE FOR DYING PARTNER TO BE HIGHLIGHTED AT STATE'S LARGEST GAY RIGHTS FUNDRAISER ON OCTOBER 6 IN NYC
(New York City) October 3, 2005 On Thursday, when the Empire State Pride Agenda (Pride Agenda) holds its annual Fall Dinner fundraiser in New York City with more than 1,000 people in attendance, the story of a Phoenix, New York woman's struggle to take care of her dying partner will be told for the first time.
"Terry Checksfield's story illustrates in stark terms how our relationships have very few legal protections in New York State and how much work still needs to be done so that our families have the same rights and protections government gives to all other families," said Pride Agenda Executive Director Alan Van Capelle.
As dinner attendees will learn when they watch a short video the Pride Agenda produced this year to talk about its work, Terry lost her partner, Barbara Blake, of almost 28 years to cancer and then lost Barbara's body to the family who barred Terry from the funeral and from being able to visit the gravesite.
"This year, the Pride Agenda worked with the state legislature to pass a bill extending control of remains authority to same-sex partners so that what happened to Terry will never happen again in New York State," said Van Capelle. "What Terry went through is horrible and no family should have to go through that. And when this bill becomes law, they won't."
Terry Checksfield and her sister-in-law will be traveling to New York City to attend the dinner as the Pride Agenda's guests.
"Having Terry with us at the dinner will be a powerful reminder to everyone there about the work we do," continued Van Capelle. "When we work to pass legislation, we do it to make life more equitable and just for members of our community. Terry's story and her presence on Thursday make that point real for everyone in the room."
Terry Checksfield lost her partner Barbara Blake to cancer in July of 2004. They lived together outside of Phoenix, New York, a town between Syracuse and Oswego.
Barbara's children from a previous marriage and Barbara's sisters never accepted Terry or the love Barbara and Terry had for each other. When Barbara unexpectedly had a stroke, was hospitalized and was then diagnosed with having cancer and only a few weeks to live, Barbara's family worked hard to push Terry aside, take control of Barbara's medical care, and make all end-of-life decisions.
Terry and Barbara did have health care proxies and powers of attorney for each other. The two hospitals and the nursing home that Barbara moved through during her final weeks of life were required to observe these documents. Some were receptive and others not as much. All along the way, Terry had to battle the family, medical practitioners and social workers to maintain the control Barbara wanted her to have. When visiting, Terry was kept at the door by Barbara's family and not allowed to approach Barbara's bedside.
During the final days of Barbara's life, Terry did get to take her home, despite the family's objections. When Barbara died five days later, Terry's health care proxy and power of attorney expired and Terry became a stranger to Barbara as far as the law was concerned. With no legal control over Barbara's remains, the family took the body, excluded Terry from the memorial service and the burial on the family's property. Today, Terry is denied access to Barbara's grave.

The Pride Agenda's Fall Dinner is one of the nation's largest LGBT fundraisers. Proceeds from the dinner support the Pride Agenda's ongoing advocacy and education work.
The year, Al Franken, co-host of "The Al Franken Show" on Air America Radio, will deliver the keynote address and recording artist Rufus Wainwright will give a special performance. Actors Mario Cantone and Gina Gershon will emcee the evening's program. Ana Oliveira, Executive Director of Gay Men's Health Crisis will be presented with the Pride Agenda's Community Service Award. There will also be special appearances by actor Randy Harrison and performing and recording artist Billy Porter.
Past speakers have included President Bill Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Governor George E. Pataki, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

28.07.2014 в 07:05Love_Leila, я помню, что роберт на премьеру 4 или 5 сезона приходил со своим бойфрендом и еще на пару мероприятий. Но имя не помню, только в лицо. Я не особо слежу за Робертом и о его бойфрендах ничего не знаю(

Они и на других мероприятиях вместе бывали, сейчас как минимум 2 еще вспомнила
